Making high quality filter coffee is a pain, isn't it? Yes, you can use one of those plunger thingamabobs, but who can be bothered with all that waiting around and cleaning up? Then there's the posh electric coffee machine: chic and effective, maybe, but this pricey device seems to be the decade’s equivalent of the fondue set since it invariably ends up collecting dust alongside your sandwich toaster and naked doughnut-hoopla set. (What, haven't you got one?).

Thankfully your good friends at Firebox (or should that be Firebucks?) have discovered a nifty new way to make deliciously smooth filter coffee in no time. The ingenious Aerobie AeroPress is a manually operated device capable of producing above average cups of filter coffee and espresso in less time than it takes to say 'I'll have a frappacappadoodah with sprinkles'.

AeroPress Coffee Maker Independent reviewers and coffee connoisseurs agree that the Aerobie AeroPress delivers the smoothest, richest, purest and fastest cup of coffee (under 30 seconds) you're ever likely to find - and it only costs a bit more than a few double espressos and couple of muffins down your local fancy coffee shop.

Using the AeroPress is a snap: simply put your coffee in the transparent chamber, pour in hot water, stir for 10 seconds and then depress the plunger. Gentle air pressure forces the mix through a special micro-filter and into the cup below. Easy, right?

AeroPress Coffee Maker

The total brewing time of only 30 seconds reduces acidity in the grounds and results in an exceptionally smooth taste. And the total immersion of the grounds causes rapid yet robust extraction of flavor. We could go on with the scientific blurb but the bottom line is the AeroPress makes the most delicious cup of coffee (including espresso) we've ever tasted.

AeroPress Coffee Maker

The amazing AeroPress comes complete with everything you need to get started, including a year's supply of micro filters, so unless you're a chronic bean fiend the only thing you need to buy is the coffee.

We really can't stress just how superior coffee made using this simple gizmo tastes. Of course we could always invite you over for a quick cup, but that would involve divulging the secret location of our subterranean HQ. Besides, we've just run out of biscotti.

"The end result? A surprisingly robust and rapid cup of coffee with no bitterness (perhaps because of the short brewing time?). Absolutely ideal for the workplace too."
Fresh Magazine

"There's something exceptionally satisfying about the process that almost makes you want to wear red braces again and declare that lunch is for wimps. The Aeropress certainly isn't. Fab kit."
Financial Times: Technopolis

I bought this as a 'new toy', and wasn't expecting great results from it. I was very wrong. It beats the pants off my cafetiere, my Tassimo and my big clunky filter machine. There's practically zero cleaning, complete control over the capacity and strength, it fits in my briefcase, and it takes seconds to use. Now I just need to get myself some of that there Weasel coffee....
Wes, Glasgow - Nov '08

Epic bit of kit, takes literally 2 minutes from reading the instructions to pouring. The coffee's a lot smoother and cleanup is practically non-existent. Can't see myself buggering about with a French Press again anytime soon.
Will Pearson, Leicester - Oct '08

Don't leave home without it. It takes up very little room, and makes seriously good coffee with very little clean up so no more out of date instant sachets in corporate hotels that should know better for me. You could even take it camping or hiking, imagine the luxury of decent coffee half way up a mountain or in the middle of a muddy field, provided you take some way of heating the water of course, maybe one of those neat little portable gas stoves from Firebox.

Got to admit, I was dubious.... . Before I tried the machine.... . MUCH better than more expensive machines, easy to store after use, takes, literally, 5 SECONDS to clean.... I bought a microwave milk frother from Amazon for getting the 'steamed' milk for Cappucino (how the hell do you spell that?) which cost approx £10, which works really well. You will NEVER by those cheap packet ones again! The coffee it makes is a good comparison to any of the retail chain coffee houses on the high street! So after about 20 or so coffees, it has paid for itself! The only problem now is, I wanted to cut down on my coffee intake... but now I'm seriously addicted! If there is one drawback, it is trying to find ways to get the correct temp for the water.... You can't just use boiling water, it has to be a lower temp to get the best results....

No relation (AFAIK) of Mark in Edinburgh, but we Macrae's like our coffee. I was looking for a cheap cafetiere to take to work, when I was given an Aeropress as a birthday gift. It's a fine bit of kit. The ease of cleaning is particularly nice. No glass to break, no metal filter to clean. I microwave milk for thirty seconds in the mug before pressing the coffee. I experimented with grind sizes and found adding a couple of spoons of coarse grind to a bag of fine makes it easier to depress the plunger.
Alastair Macrae, Glasgow, Scotland. - Jul '08

I love a cup of coffee, but the Starbucks in the deli at work was severely eating into my pay packet. So I bought an Aeropress, and didn't expect it to be any better than 'all right'. But, to echo all the reviews here it makes a fantastic cup! If you love to spend your day floating on a sea of caffeine then this is ideal. There really is no need to spend a penny more on a coffee maker. The only downside is that it does tend to resemble a device for the... how can I put it... Enlargement of one's member! It's caused a few comments to that effect from colleagues!!
Dan W, Bath, UK - Jul '07

I never bother with 'real' coffee - I can never be bothered to clean my espresso maker, and so only really keep ground coffee for dinner parties, which then has gone off by the time I use it. I bought the AeroPress to see if I could rectify that. And it really has! Once you remove all the bumpf, you can simply screw on the filter, chuck a couple of teaspoons of ground coffee in, pour hot water, stir, squeeze over a cup, and that's it: fresh americano! As for the important bit - cleaning - you simply unscrew the plastic filter, push the plunger all the way down to expel the microfilter and grounds into a bin, hold the end of the plunger under a tap, and chuck back in a drawer. It really does take a minute, end-to-end, and the coffee really is good! My miniature espresso maker is now firmly relegated to ornamental status.

I had been in the market for a low end coffee maker for a good while and was just about to drop a hundred quid on one of the powered ones when I came across this. I like my coffee really strong so those machines that use the sachets or pods just dont cut it. With the AeroPress I can make coffee as strong or as weak as id like. The price is so low that you must be mad if you dont have one, and it makes a stonker of a cup of coffee. Almost as fast as instant, and with none of the bitter/sourness, it really opens your eyes to what coffee should taste like.

Ordered yesterday, arrived today. Two large double shots later, and I'm looking like a rabbit on Redbull caught in oncoming headlights!!! The Aeropress produces exceptionally good espresso shots at a fraction of the price. You won't get a bigger bang for your buck and produces some seriously very tasty coffee (grinds dependent of course). Am seriously now considering getting one for every room in the house as well as the office.
Andy Bruckner, London - Jan '07

I have spent a lot of money on coffee and coffee makers--just ask my wife. Three points: 1) this thing makes the best coffee that I have ever made (to include my expensive espresso machine. 2) This thing costs less than two pounds of good coffee. 3) I have never heard of anyone (who tried the device) saying a bad thing about the Aeropress. If you love coffee, buy one, for God's sakes!

Audio tape sucked but cassettes remain icons of retro design. So hats off to the creators of these C90 style dispensers because each hard rubber 'cassette' reels off transparent tape as opposed to a hissy top 40 countdown from 1987. Ideal for music loving office workers.

Here at Firebucks we love those coffee shop to-go cups. Unfortunately they're made of flimsy paper. Enter this ceramic version of a modern design icon. Featuring a flexi-top for maximum slurpability, it's the ideal vessel for stay-at-home coffee fans. Chocolate sprinkles?
